Justice: The Painful Silence

Network: France 5   Type: Documentaire   Format : 75’  Directing: Florence Kieffer

Summary:

Out of a thousand murders committed each year in France some 15% are not solved in a reasonable timeframe.

As time goes by, these cases are gradually forgotten by investigating judges and the police. And the victims’ families are made to wage a painful fight against the inertia of the judicial system.

Investigations at a standstill, silence from the investigating magistrates and a gradual bogging down of cases that are then in danger of being filed away without resolution. After losing a loved one, some of these families feel as if the justice system, by its silence, is inflicting a “double punishment” on them.
